If I stumbled upon a mysterious device that allowed me to travel through time, my journey wouldn’t be about exploring ancient civilizations or witnessing historical moments, it would be deeply personal. My mission would be to improve my family’s financial situation. I’ve always felt that starting a business is difficult nowadays due to high competition, and the prices of property and gold keep rising. If my family had invested in property or gold years ago, we would have been in a much better position now. This mission is driven by my desire to ease the burden on my parents, who have worked tirelessly and sacrificed so much for our family.
My journey would begin in 2003, the year I was born. Stepping into that time, I’m immediately struck by the sights, sounds, and emotions of the past. The hospital where I was born feels both familiar and foreign, its walls painted in soft, faded colors, the faint hum of fluorescent lights overhead, and the distant beeping of medical equipment. The air smells mixed with the faint scent of antiseptic. Suddently, I see the exhaustion on my mother’s face, the way she clenches her fists and pushes through the pain. I hear her cries, raw and unfiltered, and it hits me just how much she sacrificed to bring me into this world.
But my journey isn’t just about observation, it’s about action. My plan is to approach them as a financial advisor. My plan is simple: convince my parents to invest in property and gold for securing their financial future. I suggest that my family invest in properties near upcoming MRT stations, knowing how crucial public transportation developments would be in shaping the value of real estate. I would make sure they understood the potential benefits of owning property in these locations. Along with property, I would also encourage them to invest in gold. At first, they’re skeptical. But when I accurately predict a small but significant event, like a sudden spike in gold prices, they start to take me seriously. They agree to invest, and I feel a surge of hope. My plan is working.
But then, something unexpected happens. With their newfound financial security, my parents decide to channel their energy into building a family business. They quit their stable jobs and pour their hearts into the venture, working long hours and traveling frequently to grow the business. At first, their success seems like a dream come true. They’re happier, more fulfilled, and financially secure.
However, their focus on the business comes at a cost. They spend less time at home, and the family dynamic begins to shift. I watch as my childhood becomes quieter and lonelier. The closeness we once shared starts to fade, replaced by a growing distance. As the years pass, I watch from the shadows as my parents’ lives take a different path. They move to a different city, make new friends, and not consider having another child.
I’m faced with an impossible choice: let my family’s financial struggles continue, or risk losing my brother to give them a better life. The weight of this decision is crushing. I realize that changing the past isn’t just about money, it’s about the people we love, it’s about the people we love and the bonds that define us.
In the end, I choose to undo my actions. I return to the present, knowing that my family’s struggles are part of what makes us who we are. My brother is still here, and our bond remains unbroken.
Through this adventure, I learned that the past is not something to be tampered with. While it’s tempting to change the past to create a better future, doing so comes with unforeseen consequences. Sometimes, the best way to honor our loved ones is to cherish the life we have and work toward a better future without rewriting history.
